On March 15, Concordia Lutheran High School will welcome Tiffini Grimes, 2001 graduate, and the assistant athletic director for football and men’s basketball at the University of Alabama for its monthly Alumni Mentor Program. The goal of the program is to introduce students to various careers paths through alumni connections.
In her position, Grimes works ensure the adherence of both sports to NCAA and SEC legislation, as well as institutional policy. Grimes works with the coaches and student-athletes of both sports in the areas of non-athletic personal development, rules education, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and CFP/postseason participation. In addition, she oversees the Elite Student-Athlete program, which aids the transition into professional athletics careers for student-athletes in each of the Crimson Tide’s 17 sports.
Most recently, Grimes was a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Football Development Group, which required identification of current trends, cultivation of information regarding issues detrimental to the sport, and serving as a resource to collegiate and professional football constituents.
Prior to joining the NCAA, Grimes was employed in athletics compliance at The Pennsylvania State University and Georgia Institute of Technology, where she worked specifically with football in the areas of recruiting, amateurism, agents, and waivers of NCAA legislation. In addition to football specific responsibilities, Grimes worked with both institution’s basketball programs and Olympic sports in a compliance, policy, and life skills capacity.
