CLHS shines at Clendenen

By Logan Krinn

Concordia Lutheran High School JROTC hosted their home drill meet, The 46th Annual Homer Clendenen Drill Meet. This years senior class, the Battalion Commander, Derek Egolf, especially, not to mention SFC Conrad and MAJ Sheaffer, has put countless hours into planning this event. This year however, was different because for the first year ever, this event was held over at IPFW rather than Concordia.

The Clendenen Drill Meet has never been a meet where Concordia has done relatively well. However, as if it is the motto, this year has been the year for change. Concordia has has a wonderful showing at every drill meet, having one or multiple teams place.

At the Clendenen Drill Meet, seniors Garrett Spires, Ian Brown, Deshanae Davis, and junior Caitlynn Flannigan, and freshman Caroline Snuggs all placed in the individual drill knockout competition, with Ian Brown and Garrett Spires, taking first place. Sophomores Lindsay Bennett and Kenise Mitchell-Casey, juniors Grace Donley and Sam Blanchard placed in unarmed duets, and juniors Gavin Stifert and Preston Kerligrand placed first in armed duets. The Snap Squad placed first, and the CO-ED drill team placed third in their categories.

The Concordia Lutheran High School JROTC Drill Teams have had one of the best seasons seasons in the history of the program and with the outstanding performance at Clendenen Drill Meet, it’s easy to say that this is the year of outstanding performance at Concordia.
